Ordering Medication/Immunization Administration in AIM

1.  One time immunization/medication administration- Examples: include flu, pnemovax, Td shots...

The complete order is to be written on the provider's continuation sheet under Plan.  A red sticker (found in each exam room) is to be placed on the top of the continuation sheet.  this identifies to the staff that the patient must see the nurse for their injection before being discharged.

2.  Injection Series - Examples include: monthly B12 shot, Hep A/B vaccine, monthly bicillin/haldol

A blue card should be filled out, these cards should be available in every exam room and nursing room.  Please indicate the type of injection, your name and beeper number, and then sign and date it.

3. PPD placement: an order for a PPD is to be written on a triplicate consultation form.  Please include page number and a brief and pertinent history.  The provider will be paged with all positive results > 10 mm induration.  The provider can request to be contacted for induration > 5mm.  A pink copy of the results will be placed in the provider's mailbox.
